Testimonies

"Metro has helped me come far. I flunked a whole semester my sophomore year and had a baby my senior year. Metro has made it possible for me to make up my credits and still graduate with my class by letting me work at my own pace. I am able to adjust my work according to my learning style and my needs each day. I learn in the way that is best for me. It's all about motivation. Thanks Metro!" Chelsea, Class of 2008.

"I love all of my teachers. They really care about my progress in class and would do anything for the benefit of my education". Melissa, Class of 2009

"Metro is a magnificent catalyst. Students come here when they need a kick start or when they just need help continuing". Amy, Class of 2009

"I enjoy being at Metro Blvd because I love how you can have your own opinion. Although some may be wrong or inappropriate the faculty still take into consideration your thoughts. I also appreciate the size of Metro Blvd". Morgan, Class of 2008

"For myself Metro was more than a "make up school". Metro actually gave me uncountable opportunities. For one, getting my basketball career to where it should have been. Shout out to Coach Dean. Secondly, I am in a school that I like. It brought happiness to my mother, and that's really all I need, so thanks Metro". Alonzo, Class of 2008

"I chose Metro Boulevard Alterative High School because at my old school I was afraid of failing and not getting my credits to graduate on time. I was failing at my old school because I had skipped too many classes and hadn’t been there to do anything there was always homework that had a specific due date and I wouldn’t get any of it turned in on time. Since I have come to Metro I know that skipping is not tolerated. Also the teachers are very helpful and encourage you to get the credit that you need to earn for that class. The teachers don't pressure you to do your work; instead, they give you plenty of time to do it. You also can work at your own pace and it’s not that bad at all. Now that I have come to Metro with 21 credits, all I need is to finish is English and government. It’s not that hard. Just do the work, do it well, and you should be on your way to graduating sooner than you think".  --Janalla, Class of 2008

"Why do I love Metro? It’s been four months and 3weeks since I started here and never has this thought crossed my mind until now. Metro is a school where you can do your work at a steady pace that you could pursue getting your work done. It allows you to express and adventure your mind through the work that you do in class. This school enables you to learn and study at the college level but with a little more help from the teachers.
My whole life I’ve been going to school and never have I experienced anything like Metro. Sometimes I get the vibe that I am a teacher at metro because the teachers at this school are my closest friends and I help other tutor students if they ask for my help. The respect that you give is the respect that you earn at Metro, they make you feel as if you have already graduated and started college and have fun and came back to visit.
When I first got to Metro, I had a problem with attendance. Attendance is not a factor to me anymore since I’ve been here for more than 100 days straight. Some of the problems that I’ve had at home were taken care of through the school. When I was down to the last dollar with no gas to get from and to school, the staff helped me. When I had no where to stay, the principal and counselor made sure that there was somewhere for me to stay at night, and it was a good job that they did. Also, they helped me get scholarships to the school I will be attending. There are a few esoteric students that I’ve seen act up or make trouble in the classrooms, and every time I can assure that there has been a teacher or the peer leader helping them get there act straight, because the main goal of the staff is to help the students graduate and get them ready for college.
Last year I didn’t attend school because of the child abuse that I went through which really slowed me down. Since attending the Metro, I’ve almost completed my 22 credits and will possibly be graduating in March. The closer I get to that day of graduation, it gets scary. The feeling just pumps my adrenaline as I speak. Southeast, Northeast, and Heights are the three schools that I attended before coming to metro. Out of these selections, none of them ever showed the intensive care for students and closeness to students like I see at Metro Blvd. This school is preparing students to become extraordinary individuals and take advantage of the obstacles that the future has in store.
So the question is why do I love metro? I love metro because they are here for me. They took me in like their own child then set me straight to be a young gentlemen to go off to college and make something of myself. They taught me how to give back to the community just by observing how they gave to me not everything they had, but the best they could do. This is my family, I love you Metro Blvd!!! Jermane, Class of 2008
